Textronics® expands NuMetrex® line of heart sensing sportswear

WILMINGTON, DEL., May 17, 2007) — Textronics,® Inc., a leader in the development of wearable sensors for fitness and health monitoring, has expanded its NuMetrex® line of sportswear with the introduction of two new styles that incorporate heart sensing fibers right into the knit of the fabric.

The NuMetrex® Cardio Shirt for Men was designed to give men an alternative to the cumbersome heart rate monitoring chest straps that tend to chafe, slip and loosen during workouts. Constructed of an advanced wicking fabric with special sensory fibers integrated directly into the garment, the Cardio Shirt allows men to wear a heart rate monitor without knowing it is there. The conductive fabric moves comfortably with the body, picking up the heart’s pulse and sending it to a compatible watch or cardio machine via a tiny transmitter that is snapped into a pocket on the shirt. The sleeveless style can be worn alone or as a first layer. It will be available May 29, and can be purchased online at www.numetrex.com. Retail price for the Cardio Shirt is $58.95.

The NuMetrex® Heart Sensing Racer Tank offers the same seamless heart rate monitoring capabilities as the NuMetrex® Heart Sensing Sports Bra, which was introduced in 2005 to rave reviews. The sleeveless tank top features a shelf bra where the electronic sensing technology is integrated into the fabric to monitor heart rate. A tiny transmitter snaps into a pocket in the shelf bra to send data to a compatible monitoring device. The Heart Sensing Racer Tank is made of quick drying nylon Lycra with a second-skin fit that offers medium support. It will be available June 15, and can be purchased online at www.numetrex.com. Retail price for the Racer Tank is $55.95.
